ClearCorrect is a version of orthodontic treatment that uses clear aligner therapy. It is very similar to other aligners, such as Invisalign, and these clear aligner orthodontic treatments have been around for decades now. They are really wonderful because it provides a more aesthetic method as opposed to the conventional braces. And in addition to that, you're able to remove these aligners and keep your teeth clean much easier than you would be able to with conventional braces.
ClearCorrect treatment and Invisalign treatment can treat simple orthodontic cases. Not everyone is a candidate for the ClearCorrect treatment. So based on my bite assessment and other factors that are present inside their mouth, such as implants, because we cannot move implants with ClearCorrect treatment, that really makes a big difference with our case selections and who we are recommending the ClearCorrect treatment to.
Now, another issue is clenching and grinding. Clenching and grinding is probably one of the most underrated concerns that we are finally just now starting to really pay attention to and notice and see the havoc that it is wreaking on our patient's teeth. Some patients can have the clenching and grinding issues treated with ClearCorrect therapy if they're, of course, a candidate. When I meet a patient, I'm looking at multiple different factors. I'm looking at: are they a candidate for aligner therapy, or would they be better off with just say a night guard, which would help with the clenching and grinding issue.
Really want to stress to patients to be very cautious of these mail-order, DIY treatments, because we might not see it now, but in several years we will start to see the lasting and damaging effects from those. I now wear my night guard religiously every single night. But it's something that, you know, we really try to educate our patients about, because it can cause so many different issues. It can wear away the margins of your fillings faster, meaning that you have to get them replaced faster. It can break teeth. It can break your crowns. It can break your fillings. It causes so many different issues that can be prevented with such a simple preventative device. So again, patient education is one of our number one priorities.
