As I was growing up, my father rarely smiled. He had crooked teeth. He had periodontal disease. I saw how that really affected his level of self-confidence. And growing up around that, it really had an impact on me, and I knew that I wanted to help people in the same way. I also took into consideration that I had a wonderful relationship with my dentist. I can't really say that I had the same type of rapport with my physician, so I really loved that about my dentist and my orthodontist as well. I knew that I wanted to get into a field where I can not only help people and treat them but also take into account aesthetics and engineering. Every day is different, and every patient is different. And for me, that keeps me motivated because you just never know what the day will bring. I love the relationship aspect of it because, for me, that really goes a long way. I can just simply focus on a mouth and eventually a mouth will look no different than another mouth, but it's really the relationships that I've built with the people that set them apart and that make it so satisfying for me, because I can then see how our office has impacted their lives, their day-to-day lives, and I love that.
